A year ago today, our favourite hairdresser/barber and good friends got married in Byron. When I exported my shortlist of images for this blog post there were 353 355 on the list, that’s how much fun I had [even at 7 months pregnant]. Obviously there aren’t going to be that many photos here, but hopefully you’ll get the gist of how fun and epic Kate + Whitey’s day was….
We rocked up at Elements of Byron Bay, where both Kate + Whitey were getting ready, it was so much fun because everyone in their bridal party knew each other and they’re a pretty tight [+ loose] bunch. We had met them all a few times before, so the whole day really did feel like we were hanging out with a big group of our own friends.
Yes, that’s Kate doing everyone else’s hair on her wedding day before she slipped into her gorgeous custom design Andrea Gorrie gown [check out Chanel the Frenchie’s matching tutu!] and the most perfect Louboutin’s! Whitey wore a pretty suave blue get-up from Panthers Mensland, needless to say, they both looked perfect. Whitey arrived to the ceremony in his GT Mustang, the girls were in the only other option when in Byron, Kombis.
The wedding took place on the deck of the Byron Bay Surf Club, and was the most fun ceremony, peach references and all. They had red roses, which they gave to each other’s mums – cue tears! And honestly I have never seen a bride smile and laugh so much during a ceremony! They walked back down the aisle to Bieber, naturally, and then there were tears when they were asked to be godparents to their besties Jayde + Luke’s little girl Billie.
It was a race against sunset for location photos at the Welcome to Byron Bay sign and then up to the lighthouse, because you know, most Easterly Point of Australia, and back down to the beach. We honestly had the most epic day, it took me a couple of days to recover!
While the guests partied the night away [honestly, I have NEVER seen a d-floor go off like this one], we snuck out for a bit of quiet time and couldn’t refuse a selfie request from these gorgeous peeps. My favourite photos from the afternoon are probably when we stole some quiet time away from the bridal party and got the last of the light looking out from the lighthouse across Byron Main Beach.
Whitey, I know you freaked a little when I told you I was pregnant but we wouldn’t have missed it for the world and hope you and Kate have the most wonderful anniversary!
